Mamma mia, here I go again
My, my, how can I resist you?
My, my, how can I resist you?
Mamma mia, does it show again?
Just how much I *love you! (*miss)
One of the stars in my sky loves musicals. Right now, Mamma Mia is her favorite.
For her 4th birthday we decided to throw her a Mamma Mia Birthday Bash!

For her 4th birthday we decided to throw her a Mamma Mia Birthday Bash!
When I first started planning the party I pictured lots of mediterranean blue, turquoise, and a touch of orange with everything doused in a healthy coat of glitter and sparkles. After consulting with the birthday girl, blue was vetoed and pink was added in. I put a little extra flair accenting the decorations with pink, turquoise, and orange feathers.
To set the scene I made a ribbon curtain. I attached alternating hues from the party color scheme to a sheer net curtain. I trimmed the top of the curtain with a hot pink feather boa.
I also made the Happy Birthday banner with coordinating glittery papers to match our theme. The party was outside by the pool, but I still wanted a home feel to the party. I added a hot pink rug and a child size chair for the birthday girl to sit on while opening her presents.
For decorations I covered a canvas with fabric and sewed flowers in the shape of 4 to the fabric. Then I trimmed the edges in hot pink marabou feathers.
I chose pieces of money tree for the centerpieces because of the song "Money, Money, Money" in Mamma Mia.
On the treat table, the main attractions were the cupcakes and the cotton candy board. I ordered the bright glittery cupcakes, that were Pina Colada flavored, from Favor Bakery in Winter Haven. The owner is amazing. She is so creative and she is always up for a creative project. I added cupcake toppers I made from stickers I ordered from zazzle.com and I ordered a special cupcake topper for the birthday girl from the same place.
My mom and I made milk chocolate dipped Oreo's. We made half of the oreo's with the Man in the Moon cookie mold and we made the rest of the oreo's with the plain oreo mold. We decorated the plain oreo's with cake tattoo's and candy writers in the colors of the party.
We dipped marshmallows in orange candy melts and covered them in pink sprinkles.
We also made some yummy turquoise cake pops with blue raspberry sprinkles.
We added Sixlets, Whirley Pops, Rock Candy Pops, and Gummy Jelly Beans.
I was able to incorporate my Mamma Mia theme onto the treat table by labeling the treats with a creative spin from a song in the musical. (Take a Chance on Me Cake Pops, Gimme, Gimme, Gimme a Cupcake After Dinner, Sticking to my Fingers Cotton Candy, Winner Takes it all Truffles, Voulez-Vous Oreo's, Super Turtles, Thank you for the Marshmallows, Lay your Lollipop on Me, Sixlets Oh Sixlets (SOS), and Gummy, Gummy.)
All in all, I think the little star in my sky was thrilled with her party. It was a theme she loved, her favorite color, and best of all did I mention her favorite person showed up? :)
